In a glamorous revelation, Air India showcased the latest designs by renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra for its cabin crew and pilots. Unveiled on December 12, the new uniforms bring a modern touch to the skies.

Female cabin crew members will adorn ombre sarees, adding a contemporary twist to the traditional attire. These sarees feature intricate jharokha patterns and the new Air India logo icon, Vista. The ready-to-wear sarees can be paired with comfortable pants, providing flexibility for the crew to choose their preferred style. Senior crew members will wear aubergine-to-burgundy ombre sarees, while junior members will flaunt vibrant red-to-purple variations.

Male cabin crew will sport classic bandhgalas, combining tradition with elegance. The overall look captures a unique East-meets-West aesthetic.

Pilots will step into the cockpit in timeless black double-breasted suits with a print inspired by the Vista. This design choice aims to represent the essence of India’s diverse culture and traditions, encapsulated in a modern and sophisticated look.

Designer Manish Malhotra hasn’t overlooked the details. The crew’s ensemble is complemented by dual-tone block heels for women and comfortable black brogues for men. The uniforms also include pearl earrings and sling bags for female cabin crew.

Manish Malhotra expressed his honor in contributing to Air India’s legacy, aiming to showcase the elegance and charm of Indian fashion. He emphasized his intent to create uniforms that blend India’s cultural richness with a contemporary flair.

Campbell Wilson, CEO and Managing Director of Air India, praised the collaboration, stating that Manish Malhotra’s designs would script an exciting new chapter for Air India’s future narrative. He highlighted how the uniforms capture the essence of the airline’s new identity, service principles, and commitment to setting new benchmarks in global aviation.

The new uniforms will be introduced gradually, starting with the launch of Air India’s first Airbus A350.
