In a significant move, budget airline Akasa Air announced the induction of two additional Boeing 737 MAX-8 aircraft, expanding its fleet to 22 within just 17 months of commencing operations.

Since its launch in August 2022, Akasa Air has served over 6.3 million passengers, connecting with 17 cities across India. The latest additions to the fleet, consisting of 21 Boeing 737 MAX 8 and one Boeing 737 MAX 8 200, will support the airline’s plans to enhance its domestic presence and initiate international operations in the coming months.

Vinay Dube, Founder and CEO of Akasa Air, expressed, “The additions to our fleet will help us bolster the strength of our operations as we expand our footprint and foray into international skies in the coming months.”

The Boeing 737 MAX family, known for its greater range and fuel efficiency, aligns with Akasa Air’s commitment to reducing fuel use and carbon emissions. The airline emphasizes that the MAX aircraft are quieter, contributing to a 50 percent smaller noise footprint compared to their counterparts.

Moreover, recent reports suggest that Akasa Air is poised to finalize an order for approximately 150 Boeing 737 MAX narrowbody planes, aiming to tap into the travel boom in India. Contract negotiations are underway, and an official announcement is anticipated during Wings India, the country’s prominent civil aviation event scheduled for January 18-21.

For bookings and further information, passengers can visit the Akasa Air website, Android & IOS app, or reach out to travel agents and various online travel agencies.
