Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the Bihar Small Entrepreneur Scheme on Monday. Under this scheme, a financial aid of two lakh rupees will be provided in three installments to skilled individuals in the state to support their entrepreneurial ventures. The first installment will be granted after approval of the application, the second after establishing the unit, and the remaining amount after the unit’s operation. The Chief Minister also launched a booklet providing detailed information about the scheme.

Applications are open until February 20th. Interested individuals can apply on the Industry Department’s website at https://udyami.bihar.gov.in/. The scheme aims to assist 94 lakh families with an annual income of less than 72,000 rupees.

To qualify for the scheme, families with a total income less than 72,000 rupees per month can apply. The government aims to include all eligible families identified through the recent caste-based census in the scheme. A minimum of two lakh rupees will be provided to at least one member of each eligible poor family, enabling them to start a small business.

The financial aid of two lakh rupees will be distributed in three installments. After approval of the application, the first installment of 50,000 rupees will be given, followed by the second installment of 75,000 rupees for purchasing necessary equipment and machinery. The remaining 75,000 rupees will be provided as the last installment for the unit’s operation. Online applications are required, and beneficiaries will be selected randomly.

The scheme encompasses 62 types of self-employment opportunities, including wooden toys, pottery, furniture manufacturing, clothing production, handcrafts, jewelry, food processing, salon services, mobile and electronic repair, laundry services, grocery stores, medical stores, brick kilns, cement, concrete construction, and more.

At the district level, committees will be established to oversee the implementation of the scheme. The committee, chaired by the district magistrate, will include officials from the industry center, deputy development commissioner, welfare officer, and labor inspector. The committee has the authority to modify the list of identified industries based on the region’s potential and remove those not suitable for employment.

Required documents for application include age verification documents, Aadhaar card, residence certificate, caste certificate, income certificate issued by the regional office, bank statement/canceled check/passbook, and a signature photo.

To apply, visit the official portal of the Industry Department at https://udyami.bihar.gov.in/, register, log in with the provided user ID and password, provide the necessary information and documentation, submit the form, and keep a printed copy for reference.
