Congress leader Jayaram Ramesh has made a significant statement regarding the attack during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi. Ramesh alleges that BJP goons targeted his car in Sontipur district, Jumugurighat, Assam. The incident involved an assault on Ramesh’s vehicle, part of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, along with a scuffle with media personnel accompanying the procession.

Ramesh accused BJP of orchestrating the attack, stating on his social media account that unruly BJP supporters in Jumugurighat assaulted him and tore the stickers of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from his windshield. Despite the provocation, Ramesh maintained composure and continued forward. The incident occurred as BJP workers were reportedly conducting a march on Ramesh’s route before Rahul Gandhi’s arrival.

Additionally, Supriya Shrinate, another Congress leader, held BJP responsible for the incident, claiming that during their rally in Assam, goons associated with Himanta Biswa Sarma attacked Congress’s social media team, including cameramen and female members. Shrinate criticized Himanta Biswa Sarma, urging him to restrain his supporters and not hinder Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

The Congress party has strongly condemned the attack, accusing BJP of resorting to violence out of fear of the impact of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Congress released video footage related to the incident and claimed that the assault was carried out with the support of the BJP government. The party highlighted the apparent anxiety of the Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, in response to the incident.

In response to these developments, Himanta Biswa Sarma instructed the police to register a case and investigate the allegations. Meanwhile, the Congress party emphasized that they would not be deterred by such incidents and continued their Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Rahul Gandhi’s ambitious journey aims to cover 6,713 kilometers in 67 days, passing through 15 states and concluding in Mumbai on March 20 or 21.
