A heated debate has ignited as former Karnataka minister H Anjaneya compared Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to Lord Ram ahead of the Ram Temple’s consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, stating, “He (Siddaramaiah) is our Ram. Why should he visit Ayodhya for the consecration event? He could pay obeisance at his native village which has a Ram temple.”
The comments come amid the BJP’s preparations for the temple’s consecration on January 22. Anjaneya’s remarks triggered a war of words, with the Congress leader suggesting that the idol to be installed in Ayodhya would be ‘BJP’s Ram.’
Siddaramaiah, in a previous statement, expressed a dilemma over attending the event due to the lack of a formal invitation. Anjaneya criticized the BJP, accusing them of religious and communal division instead of addressing broader social issues.
BJP leader Basanagouda Patil Yatnal responded, urging respectful language when discussing Lord Ram and Hindu deities. He criticized Anjaneya, stating, “It is our misfortune that such idiots, anti-Hindu (leaders) have been our ministers.”
