In a momentous address at the DGP conference in Jaipur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the swift and courageous actions of the Indian Navy in preventing a hijacking attempt on a merchant vessel in the North Arabian Sea. The prime minister highlighted the remarkable rescue mission covering a distance of 2000 km, successfully safeguarding 21 crew members, including 15 Indians.

PM Modi expressed his admiration, stating, “Many of you must have seen the footage where, following their rescue by the Indian Navy from the attempted hijack, the crew members were chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai.'”

The marine commandos of the Indian Navy conducted a swift operation to rescue crew members from the seized MV Lila Norfolk, a Liberian-flagged vessel. The pirates’ hijack attempt was thwarted due to the strong intervention of the Indian Navy and the warning of interception by an Indian Naval warship.

In a statement released by the Indian Navy, it confirmed the safe evacuation of all 21 crew members, and the absence of hijackers after sanitization by MARCOs.

Expressing gratitude, the rescued Indians chanted “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and thanked the Indian Navy for their prompt and effective rescue.

Additionally, PM Modi acknowledged the recent success of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in placing India’s first solar observatory, Aditya L1, in its final orbit. The prime minister praised ISRO’s scientific prowess and the significant achievement in space exploration.

Aditya L1, positioned near the Lagrange L1 point, will analyze the Sun and its surrounding environment over the next five years. PM Modi emphasized the importance of Aditya L1’s uninterrupted view, free from eclipses or occultations, contributing to enhanced understanding of solar activities and their impact on space weather in real-time.

This dual commendation by PM Modi highlights India’s prowess in maritime security and space exploration, showcasing the nation’s commitment to advancements in diverse fields.
