In response to the recent catastrophe that befell Himachal Pradesh during the monsoon season, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has sanctioned a substantial financial aid package of ₹10 crore to bolster the Himachal Disaster Relief Fund. This compassionate decision received approval from Chief Minister Kejriwal on Friday. The move comes after Himachal Chief Minister Sukhdev Singh Sukhu penned a heartfelt letter, detailing the dire situation in the region.

Chief Minister Kejriwal emphasized the unwavering solidarity of the Delhi government with Himachal Pradesh and its people during this trying period. He stressed the necessity for all state governments to unite as a cohesive family to extend support to one another in times of adversity.

It is noteworthy that this decision came promptly following a heartfelt plea from Himachal CM Sukhu. The letter from Himachal’s leader outlined the extensive devastation caused by the monsoon, affecting lives and property on an unprecedented scale. The disaster left a trail of destruction, including damaged infrastructure, disrupted water supply, and prolonged power outages, rendering many homeless. The Himachal Pradesh government has been diligently engaged in relief efforts, including providing shelter to those displaced by landslides triggered by torrential rainfall. To bolster these crucial efforts and aid in the revival of livelihoods during these challenging times, the Himachal government established the “Disaster Relief Fund-2023,” inviting contributions from those willing to assist.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal promptly instructed Finance Minister Atishi to extend a helping hand to Himachal during this period of crisis.

Chief Minister Kejriwal affirmed that Delhi stands firmly by Himachal Pradesh during this trying phase and is committed to providing essential financial support to help the state recover from the disaster. The recent deluge has wreaked havoc in Himachal Pradesh, affecting countless residents and disrupting their means of sustenance. Acknowledging the pressing need for immediate assistance and relief measures, the Delhi government’s decision to contribute to the state’s disaster relief fund underscores the significance of unity among all states, akin to a closely-knit family, to offer assistance during times of calamity.
