Mumbai – In a devastating incident that unfolded in the early hours of Friday, a fierce blaze engulfed a seven-story edifice in the heart of Goregaon West, leaving six individuals dead, including two minors, and a staggering 40 injured.

The inferno, which was first reported at 3:05 AM at the Jay Bhavani building, situated in close proximity to Azad Maidan, wreaked havoc in its wake, claiming the lives of one man, three women, and two young girls.

Officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) swiftly responded to the crisis, revealing that the fire primarily raged within the ground-floor shops, consuming scrap materials, and multiple vehicles parked nearby. It took the valiant efforts of firefighting teams over three arduous hours, until approximately 6:45 AM, to finally quell the menacing flames.

Out of the 40 injured, fifteen were transported to Cooper Hospital, with two of them in critical condition, while the remaining 25 received medical attention at the Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Medical College (HBT) hospital.

In a desperate bid to combat the inferno, the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) deployed an impressive arsenal, including eight fire engines, five jumbo tankers, a water tank, a turntable ladder (TTL), and a quick reaction vehicle, tirelessly working to alleviate the disaster’s toll.

This tragic incident casts a shadow of sorrow over the city, underscoring the critical importance of fire safety measures and vigilance in densely populated urban areas.
