Speaking at a gathering organized by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s Brothers of Italy party, Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, stated that oil and petrol should not be demonized in the medium term. However, he emphasized the importance of cutting carbon emissions to protect the environment.

Musk expressed concern that the climate change alarm might be exaggerated in the short term, suggesting that the environmental movement may have gone too far, causing people to lose faith in the future. At the COP28 climate summit, representatives from nearly 200 countries agreed to reduce global consumption of fossil fuels.

Considering himself an environmentalist, Musk highlighted the long-term goal of reducing industries’ carbon emissions derived from burning fossil fuels. He urged against demonizing oil and gas in the medium term.

Responding to questions about his companies investing in Italy, Musk expressed worry about the country’s declining birth rate. He emphasized the need for the Italian government to create incentives for families to have more children.
