In a significant development amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, the White House has announced that Israel has agreed to implement daily four-hour humanitarian pauses in its offensive against Hamas in northern Gaza. This decision, communicated by President Joe Biden to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a recent call, aims to provide crucial windows for civilians to evacuate and receive assistance.

U.S. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby clarified that Israel committed to announcing each four-hour pause at least three hours in advance. The first humanitarian pause is expected to be implemented on Thursday.

President Biden, addressing reporters, revealed that he urged for a pause longer than three days during negotiations concerning the release of hostages held by Hamas. However, he ruled out the possibility of a general cease-fire.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken had previously cautioned Israel about jeopardizing the potential for peace by not promptly improving humanitarian conditions for Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron has initiated a Gaza aid conference, emphasizing the need for Israel to protect civilians and highlighting the importance of adhering to rules while combating terrorism.

As the situation unfolds, the international community closely watches the developments in the conflict, balancing the urgent humanitarian needs with the complexities of geopolitical dynamics.
