KARACHI, In a recent development, Pakistan’s aviation ministry has directed airport authorities to exempt serving judges and their spouses from body searches at all airports across the country. The directive, issued by the Supreme Court, has been implemented by the Airport Security Force (ASF) director general, according to a report by Geo News.

The Ministry of Aviation issued a notification on October 12, stating, “[…] Secretary Aviation has been pleased to exempt spouses of serving judges and Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan from body search at all airports.”

Furthermore, talks are underway between Pakistan and a United Arab Emirates (UAE) company to install eGates at major airports, including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. These eGates aim to provide self-immigration services akin to those in developed countries, streamlining the immigration process for passengers holding e-passports.

As the aviation landscape evolves, this move is expected to enhance passenger experience, allowing individuals with e-passports to navigate automated self-service immigration barriers efficiently.
