The state government of Bihar has announced a significant development for teachers working in various government schools across the state. The Education Department has released a sum of ₹658 crore for the payment of salaries to employed teachers under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. This amount will be utilized to disburse salaries for the month of March.

According to the directive issued by the Education Department under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, the salaries of 2,75,758 teachers employed in Panchayat Raj, Municipal Corporation institutions, and graduate-trained teachers at the district level in upgraded middle schools will be paid.

Allocation Made District-wise

As per the Education Department, a budget provision of ₹2650 crore has been made for the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in the financial year 2024-25. The funding ratio between the central and state governments is set at 60:40. The allocated funds for the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan cannot be used for any other purpose. According to departmental sources, teachers have not yet received their salaries for March. It is noteworthy that the allocation of funds has been made district-wise.

Approval from KK Pathak

Additionally, the Education Department has clarified that if any irregularities are found in the disbursement of approved funds, the entire responsibility will lie with the Bihar Education Project Council, officials associated with the Patna district level, and regional program officers. This proposal has also received approval from KK Pathak, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department.
