In a significant development, 11 legislators, including six rebels and three independents, have left Himachal Pradesh for Uttarakhand, intensifying the crisis for the Congress government. The political landscape in Himachal Pradesh remains turbulent as these legislators, accompanied by security arrangements, arrived at the Taj Hotel in Rishikesh on Saturday.

Former Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had recently been summoned to Delhi by the top leadership of the Congress. Reports suggest that Sukhu visited the national capital to present a political situation report and discuss strategies for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Responding to questions about the possibility of welcoming back the rebel legislators, the current Chief Minister mentioned that those realizing their mistakes could be given another chance.

Minister Vikramaditya Singh, amidst the Himachal crisis, emphasized his role as a mediator between the Congress establishment and dissidents. The resolution, he stated, would be determined by the party’s leadership. It’s noteworthy that Congress witnessed internal dissent last month when six rebels and three independent candidates cast their votes in favor of BJP during the Rajya Sabha elections, leading to the defeat of Congress candidate Abhishek Manu Singhvi. Subsequently, these legislators were declared disqualified. In response, the rebel lawmakers have approached the Supreme Court against the Speaker’s decision.
