New Delhi,Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, has strongly criticized the Nitish Kumar government for reportedly reducing the number of holidays for several Hindu festivals in Bihar. The Bihar education department’s 2024 holiday calendar has faced backlash as it increases summer vacation days while removing holidays for festivals such as Hartalika Teej and Jitiya. Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha holidays have been extended to three days each.

Accusing the government of practicing appeasement politics, Rai stated, “This decision must be changed, and BJP won’t sit quietly on this matter.” He demanded the withdrawal of the holiday calendar, emphasizing that such appeasement behavior is detrimental to Bihar’s development.

Earlier, Union Minister Ashwini Choubey had also criticized the Nitish government, highlighting what he called the “anti-Hindu face” of the government.
