New Delhi, The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced a signature campaign from December 1 to 20 to gather public opinion on whether Arvind Kejriwal should step down as Delhi Chief Minister if arrested under what they claim is a “conspiracy by the BJP.”

Delhi minister Gopal Rai alleged that the BJP is plotting to frame Kejriwal in a “fake” liquor scam case to undermine the AAP. The campaign, named “Mai Bhi Kejriwal,” will involve AAP volunteers collecting signatures at all 2,600 polling stations across the city.

Rai stated during a press conference, “The Central government is conspiring to finish our party, registering fake corruption cases, and arresting our leaders. They are now preparing to arrest Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.”

Kejriwal, facing summons from the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case linked to an alleged excise policy scam, sought opinions from party MLAs and councillors. The consensus was that he should not resign and continue running the government from jail, according to Rai.

Following the signature campaign, AAP plans a “Jan Samvad” from December 21 to 24 in every ward of the city to discuss the alleged liquor scam and the BJP’s conspiracy.

AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj emphasized the need to address governance issues with Governors and Lieutenant Governors, calling for a halt to daily disputes without concrete action from the central government.

In November, Kejriwal was summoned by the ED, skipped the appearance, and deemed the notice “illegal and politically motivated.” The AAP’s efforts aim to garner public support amid the ongoing political turmoil.
