In anticipation of the upcoming consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla on January 22, the Indian Railway Conference Association revealed on Wednesday that the redeveloped Ayodhya railway station will now be known as “Ayodhya Dham.” The statement outlined the modification from the previous name, “Ayodhya Junction,” and confirmed that the alphabetical code “AY” remains unchanged.

The renaming decision aligns with the grandeur of the newly constructed Ayodhya Railway Station, set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30. Member of Parliament for Ayodhya, Lallu Singh, shared the news on X, stating, “Ayodhya Junction became ‘Ayodhya Dham’ Junction under the guidance of the illustrious Honorable Prime Minister of India Shri @narendramodi ji, as per the expectation of public sentiments.”

The first phase of the station’s construction, completed within a budget of ₹240 crore, boasts world-class facilities across 10,000 square meters. The Rail India Technical and Economics Service (RITES) supervised the project, providing three platforms, parking space, staff accommodations, lifts, escalators, an air-conditioned waiting lounge, a food plaza, and separate dormitories for men and women.

The station’s architecture mirrors the Ram Mandir, featuring two shikhars and pyramid-like structures constructed from pink Bansi Paharpur stone. The upcoming second phase, allocated a ₹480 crore budget, is set to further enhance the station’s facilities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also expected to inaugurate the Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport in Ayodhya on December 30.
