Patna,  Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has reiterated his administration’s commitment to eradicating corruption, declaring that the state’s objective is to become “corruption-free” through a policy of zero tolerance, while simultaneously accelerating development.

During a high-level review meeting on Thursday with the cabinet secretariat and the state vigilance department, Mr Kumar received detailed briefings on ongoing anti-corruption initiatives. Additional Chief Secretary (cabinet secretariat) and Vigilance Commissioner Arvind Kumar Chaudhary led a presentation updating the chief minister on the departments’ activities.

According to an official statement, Mr Kumar directed both departments to intensify their efforts and execute their mandates “efficiently and expeditiously” in line with the government’s stated priorities. He emphasised that the vigilance apparatus was playing an “effective, sensitive and dynamic role” in eliminating graft.

“Our aim is to make the state corruption-free by pursuing a zero-tolerance policy while pursuing development with justice,” the chief minister was quoted as saying. He added that welfare schemes must be implemented with “good governance and transparency” so that benefits reach the common citizen directly and swiftly.

The meeting was attended by senior officials including the chief minister’s principal secretary Deepak Kumar, ACS Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, special secretary Kumar Ravi, special officer Gopal Singh, special secretary (cabinet secretariat) Chandrashekhar Singh, Nilesh Ramchandra Devre and departmental special secretary Arvind Kumar Verma.

Separately, the newly elected Bihar Legislative Assembly is scheduled to hold its inaugural session from 1 to 5 December, with the oath and affirmation of members on 1 December and the election of the Speaker on 2 December 2025, according to an official release.
