Patna: The Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport inaugurated its state-of-the-art Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower and technical block, marking a milestone in aviation. The 25-meter-high tower grants air traffic controllers a comprehensive 360-degree view of the airport and its operational surroundings. Anchal Prakash, the director of Patna airport, highlighted the tower’s advanced communication, navigation, and surveillance facilities, including VHF radios and a digital automatic terminal information service (DATIS).

The newly operational facilities are part of the ambitious redevelopment project for Patna airport. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has invested in modernizing air traffic services and control infrastructure, with plans for a cutting-edge terminal building covering 65,155 square meters. This terminal, inspired by the square forms of Nalanda University ruins, aims to handle 3,000 passengers during peak hours, with a capacity for 80 lakh annual passengers. The completion of the terminal is anticipated by December next year.
