In a groundbreaking achievement, India has demonstrated the prowess of its Akash missile system by successfully engaging four aerial targets simultaneously at a range of 25 kilometers. This remarkable feat, executed using a single firing unit, makes India the first country globally to showcase such a capability.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) announced this milestone on Sunday, highlighting the nation’s technological advancement in missile systems. The test, conducted by the Indian Air Force during the ‘Astrashakti’ military exercise on December 12, showcased the effectiveness of the Akash Weapon System.

The Akash missile, with a range of up to 25 km, is a short-range surface-to-air missile designed to protect vulnerable areas and points from aerial attacks. India’s success in achieving simultaneous engagement of four targets enhances its strategic defense capabilities.

This accomplishment reinforces India’s commitment to bolstering its indigenous defense capabilities and positions the country as a leader in missile technology. The Akash missile system has been a key platform for export, contributing to India’s role as a reliable defense partner on the global stage.
