New Delhi, In the wake of the low-intensity blast near the Israeli embassy, investigators are actively seeking a crucial person of interest. The individual, observed in CCTV footage, arrived at the blast site in an auto-rickshaw from South Delhi’s Jamia Nagar and departed just moments before the explosion.

A police official emphasized that confirming or dismissing the person as the main suspect is premature, pending the establishment of his identity. The scrutiny of CCTV footage revealed his presence among a group of at least 12 individuals near the blast site.

The officer, requesting anonymity, stated, “Efforts to identify the other auto that left towards India Gate with the passenger were underway.” The first auto’s driver confirmed that the passenger disembarked at Prithviraj Road, unaware of the subsequent journey in another auto-rickshaw.

Facial recognition systems are being deployed to analyze individuals seen around the blast site, with a focus on Prithviraj Road and the vicinity of the Israeli embassy. Authorities are also examining CCTV footage from preceding days to determine if suspects conducted reconnaissance at these locations.

While statements from eight individuals have been recorded, forensic examination reports from the blast site are pending. No official First Information Report (FIR) has been filed yet.

The blast occurred approximately 250 meters from the Israeli embassy in the high-security Lutyens’ zone, resulting in no reported damage to life or property. A single-page letter addressed to the Israeli ambassador, citing Israel’s actions in Gaza, was found at the scene.

The Israeli embassy labeled the incident a “possible terror attack,” advising citizens to avoid public places. Security has been heightened at the embassy, and a high alert has been sounded.
