In a significant development today, a Delhi court has extended bail to prominent political figures, including RJD chief Lalu Yadav, former Bihar CM Rabri Devi, Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, and RJD MP Misa Bharti. This decision relates to their involvement in a contentious land-for-jobs case.

Earlier this year, the Enforcement Directorate took action by attaching properties owned by Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family, amounting to a staggering ₹6 crore, due to their alleged connection with a land-for-railway jobs scandal. This controversy harks back to the time when Lalu Prasad served as the railway minister in the UPA-1 government.

This federal agency further intensified its investigation by recording statements from key figures such as Rabri Devi, Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughters, Misa Bharti, Chanda Yadav, and Ragini Yadav.

The allegations revolve around pecuniary advantages supposedly obtained by Lalu Prasad Yadav during his tenure, involving the transfer of land to his family members in exchange for ‘substitutes’ appointments on Group D Posts across various railway zones. The CBI alleges that these appointments were made with undue haste and without public notices, raising concerns of irregularity.

The land transfers, allegedly orchestrated through deeds in the names of Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti, and Hema Yadav, were facilitated by residents of Patna. These appointees subsequently saw their lands transferred to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family and a private company affiliated with him.

This development serves as a critical juncture in a complex legal saga that has captured the nation’s attention.
