In a surprising turn of events, Mohan Yadav, a seasoned figure in the BJP from Ujjain, has been named the Chief Minister-designate of Madhya Pradesh. Known for his multifaceted persona, Yadav’s announcement sparked celebrations both at home and in Ujjain.

A three-time MLA, Yadav has deep-rooted connections with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its affiliated organizations, having held pivotal roles in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the BJP. His strong advocacy for Hindutva principles is reflected in his initiatives, such as introducing Ramcharitmanas as an optional subject for undergraduate students, emphasizing the ideals of Ram Rajya and the engineering marvel of Ram Setu.

Beyond his political endeavors, Yadav, a lawyer by profession, boasts an impressive academic background with an MBA, a PhD, and master’s in political science. His political journey traces back to his victory in the student union polls at Madhav Science College in Ujjain in 1982, marking the commencement of his political career.

Active in various roles within ABVP, he ascended to the position of national secretary in 1990-92, showcasing his organizational prowess. Yadav’s involvement with RSS further solidified his standing, and he became the state president of Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha in 1993-95.

Yadav’s dedication to local development earned him the chairmanship of Ujjain Development Authority from 2004-2010. Representing the Ujjain South constituency, he has been elected thrice, securing his last victory in 2023 by defeating Congress’ Chetan Premnarayan Yadav.

Appointed as the higher education minister in 2020, Yadav’s fitness enthusiasm extends to his skills in stick fighting, evident in videos showcasing his proficiency with swords. As the vice-president of the MP Olympic Association and president of MP Wrestling Association, Yadav has left an indelible mark in the sports domain.

His childhood friend, Jagdish Panchal, attests to Yadav’s inspirational qualities, citing his influence through stories of King Vikramaditya. The jubilation surrounding Yadav’s designation as CM-designate was palpable in Ujjain, with crowds gathering at his homes and festivities extending to Tower Square.

With familial ties extending into politics, including his elder sister Kalavati Yadav serving as the Ujjain Municipal Corporation chairperson, Yadav’s influence resonates across various spheres. His family, including his wife Seema Yadav and two sons, Vaibhav and Abhimanyu, joined the celebrations, distributing sweets to the joyous crowd.

Yadav’s friend Rajesh Singh Kushwah acknowledges his resilience in overcoming life’s challenges, emphasizing Yadav’s grounded approach. As Madhya Pradesh eagerly anticipates the leadership of Mohan Yadav, his diverse background and strong RSS affiliations add a unique dimension to the state’s political landscape.
