Hyderabad, The grand finale of the year-long centenary celebrations of Hyderabad Public School (HPS) is set to commence on December 19, with President Droupadi Murmu inaugurating the HPS Museum. As part of her annual southern sojourn, President Murmu will stay at Rashtrapathi Nilayam in Secunderabad for five days.
The event, spanning from December 24 to 27, will feature over 50 activities and is expected to be attended by distinguished alumni, including Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, World Bank President Ajay Pal Banga, Adobe Inc CEO Shantanu Narayan, Fairfax Financial CEO Prem Watsa, and cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle.
HPS Society President Gusti J Noria announced an investment of ₹17.50 crore for a multi-sport facility and ₹10 crore for an innovation center for start-ups on the Begumpet campus. Over 15,000 participants are anticipated to engage in the grand finale celebrations, fostering networking, knowledge sharing, and strengthening the HPS community.
The HPS, with a history dating back to 1919, began as Jagirdars’ College in 1923 and evolved into the Hyderabad Public School in 1951. The centenary celebrations will include a variety of events, such as the HPS Carnival, HPS StartX – an Entrepreneurship Summit, a Sports Reunion, a Centenary Golf Tournament, a Vintage Car Showcase, and more.
The grand finale holds significance not only as a celebration of the school’s legacy but also as a platform for cultural, intellectual, and entrepreneurial exchanges. The HPS secretary highlighted key highlights, including book readings, panel discussions, workshops, and the depositing of a time capsule.
