In a dramatic turn of events, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has levied serious allegations against Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, leader of the opposition, accusing him of leaking the Ethics Committee report concerning the ‘cash-for-query’ case involving Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra. The contentious report, which recommends Moitra’s expulsion, was slated for presentation after 12 pm today, but Dubey claims it has been leaked prematurely.

In an exclusive interview with ANI, Nishikant Dubey stated, “Let the report be tabled. I don’t know what is mentioned in the report… What I had to say, I said before the Ethics Committee… I will be able to make a comment only after the report is tabled. The report will be tabled after 12 pm… I don’t know how was the report leaked, I think Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury leaked it.”

This revelation comes amidst heightened tensions surrounding the ‘cash-for-query’ case, wherein the Ethics Committee has recommended the expulsion of Mahua Moitra. The report, comprising 500 pages, accuses Moitra of “highly objectionable, unethical, heinous, and criminal conduct” following an investigation into allegations made by Nishikant Dubey.

In response to Dubey’s allegations, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury defended his position, stating, “We will oppose that such an expulsion should not be done. We have written a letter and we have been saying that the issues of Parliament should be dealt inside the Parliament,” during an interview with ANI.

Moitra’s fate hangs in the balance as the Ethics Committee’s report, adopted on November 9, is expected to be a focal point in the ongoing Winter Session. The committee’s chairperson, Vinod Kumar Sonkar, and member Aparjita Sarangi are slated to present the report “on the Table” during the parliamentary proceedings.

As the political discourse intensifies, the opposition, including Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, questions the procedural aspects of the expulsion recommendation. Tharoor remarked, “In any procedure involving expulsion, there has to be the opportunity for cross-examination of witnesses for all sides to be heard.”

The situation remains fluid, with the Ethics Committee’s findings under scrutiny and conflicting perspectives emerging within the political landscape. The parliamentary system is witnessing a profound challenge, highlighting the intricacies and complexities inherent in addressing alleged misconduct within its ranks.

Further details and developments in this evolving political saga will be closely monitored.
