The air quality index (AQI) in Patna surged to a 24-hour average of 300, up from the previous day’s recording of 268, indicating no relief from air pollution. Notably, the Muradpur monitoring station recorded the highest AQI at 432, followed by Samanpura (375), Danapur (342), Rajbansi Nagar (284), Shikarpur (191), and Adalatganj (187). Other cities in Bihar, including Begusarai (370), Katihar (346), Bhagalpur (330), Ara (318), Chhapra (300), Saharsa (300), Rajgir (299), and Araria (271), also experienced elevated AQI levels.
While city residents grapple with air quality concerns, there is some relief on the temperature front. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts an increase in overall temperatures across the state in the next four to five days. The minimum temperature is expected to range between 12 and 16 degrees Celsius during this period. Daytime temperatures have already witnessed a rise, with Motihari and Kishanganj recording 27 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
However, the state also observed a decline in minimum temperatures, dropping to 5.5 degrees Celsius in Kishanganj. The Patna Meteorological Centre reports dry weather across the state, with an average maximum temperature of 24.2 degrees Celsius and an average minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius. Light to moderate fog was recorded in Patna and Purnia.
The state remains under the influence of westerly winds, and dry weather is expected to persist for the next 24 hours. A gradual increase in both maximum and minimum temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius is anticipated over the next 4-5 days. Additionally, light to moderate fog may persist in isolated places across the state.
