In a candid and unanticipated move, eminent industrialist Cyrus Poonawalla has advised Sharad Pawar, the Chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), to contemplate retirement from his political career. Poonawalla, a close associate of Pawar, expressed his perspective on the sidelines of an event, emphasizing that Pawar had missed two significant opportunities to ascend to the position of Prime Minister. While addressing queries about Pawar’s political trajectory, Poonawalla stated, “My advice to Sharad Pawar…He had two opportunities to become Prime Minister but he lost it. He is a clever person. He could have served well at that time but that chance has gone. Like I am also getting older therefore he should retire.”

The comments come as Pawar remains occupied with the INDIA bloc meeting in Mumbai, where the Maha Vikas Aghadi partners are convening. Pawar, a seasoned politician, has played a prominent role in Indian politics for decades, and Poonawalla’s recommendation to retire has raised eyebrows and ignited debates.

Poonawalla’s statements shed light on the intriguing dynamics within India’s political landscape, underscoring the complex interplay of personalities and ambitions.
