New Delhi- In an effort to quell speculations of divisions within the Indian National Democratic Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), Shiv Sena (UBT) Member of Parliament, Sanjay Raut, has affirmed that discussions among opposition constituents will transpire following the conclusion of assembly elections. Raut underscored the significance of these upcoming state elections, with particular emphasis on those states where the Indian National Congress holds a predominant stance.

Raut asserted, “In states where electoral contests are imminent, the Congress stands as the paramount political entity. It is imperative for us to succeed against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in these assembly elections, as it sets the stage for preparations ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha elections.”

He further expounded, “Subsequent to the culmination of electoral processes in five states, the INDIA alliance will reengage in consultations.”

Sanjay Raut’s statements come in response to Bihar’s Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, expressing concerns about the Congress party’s “lethargic” approach to addressing seat allocation within the INDIA alliance. During a recent address at a Communist Party of India (CPI) rally, Kumar lamented the Congress’s preoccupation with state assembly elections, rather than its dedicated focus on consolidating the INDIA coalition.

Kumar articulated his sentiments, stating, “Collectively, we endeavored to project Congress as the lynchpin of our unity initiative. However, Congress’s conspicuous lack of enthusiasm for this endeavor has not gone unnoticed.”

The Shiv Sena (UBT) mouthpiece, ‘Saamana,’ acknowledged the validity of Nitish Kumar’s concerns in a recent editorial. However, the publication advised that airing such concerns publicly inadvertently gratifies the BJP. In addition, the editorial posited that the assembly elections scheduled this month in five states serve as a “rehearsal” for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The editorial emphasized the critical nature of the Congress’s electoral performance, stating, “Victory in these elections is pivotal for the Congress, as it serves as a bulwark against the abuse of power and the arrogance of wealth. This victory is indispensable for the INDIA alliance.”

To address any conjecture regarding a discord within the alliance, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge engaged in discussions with Nitish Kumar. Kharge reportedly assured Kumar that the Congress would reinitiate deliberations regarding the strategy of the INDIA alliance post the assembly elections.

Furthermore, sources close to the Bihar Chief Minister divulged that Kharge urged Kumar to expedite the expansion of the state cabinet, ensuring equitable representation for both Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
