Heatwave In Bihar: A sub-inspector deployed for election duty in Rohtas district has tragically died from heatstroke amidst the severe heatwave gripping Bihar. The deceased, Devnath Ram, was stationed at Kharik Police Station in the Navgachia Police District. He had traveled to Rohtas for election duty and was staying at a camp in preparation for the elections scheduled for June 1.

Collapse at the Camp

Sub-Inspector Devnath Ram collapsed at the election camp due to the extreme heat on Wednesday. His fellow officers immediately rushed him to a hospital in Rohtas, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Service and Personal Background

Devnath Ram, originally from Amrai Navada in the Bahiya police station area of Bhojpur district, was the son of the late Ghurvigan Ram. He joined the police force in 2009 and was the third of four brothers: Chandrama Ram, Chand Govind Ram, Devnath Ram, and Premnath Prasad. He is survived by his wife, Reena Devi, and their five children.

Family in Mourning

The death of Devnath Ram has left his family devastated. His wife, Reena Devi, is inconsolable and has fainted multiple times, requiring medical supervision. His children, Roshni Kumari, Jyoti Kumari, Julie Kumari, Reshmi Kumari, Deepak Kumar, and Deepanshu Kumar, along with his mother, Sono Kunwar, are also in deep mourning. Rohtas police have sent his body for post-mortem to Sadar Hospital, Sasaram, where his elder brother Chandrama Ram and other family members were present.
