In a decisive crackdown, Thane police disrupted a rave party situated along the Kasarwadavli creekside during the early hours of Sunday. Approximately 100 young attendees, including two local hosts, were apprehended in the operation, as revealed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Shinde, addressing the media on Sunday morning, disclosed that the police received a tip-off about the illicit gathering, prompting them to vigilantly monitor the location before initiating the raid. The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s steadfast commitment to eradicating such activities and urged authorities to take stringent actions against establishments involved in the sale of drugs.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime, Shivraj Patil, highlighted that the hosts had promoted the event online through social media platforms, attracting a sizable crowd from various parts of the metropolitan region, including Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, and Mira-Bhayender.

“The police commissioner issued directions to keep vigil on possible rave parties on New Year’s Eve, following which we were tipped off by a reliable source. We raided the rave party along the isolated creekside in the Kasarwadavli area, detaining 95 people, including five women, who had allegedly consumed drugs and intoxicants at the illegally organized party,” Patil stated.

The police seized substances such as LSD, charas, and ecstasy pills from the party venue, collectively valued at Rs eight lakhs. Senior Inspector Vikas Ghodke from Thane Crime Branch Unit-5 confirmed that further investigations are underway.
