In a recent revelation, the latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data for 2022 highlights that Uttar Pradesh’s crime rate is notably lower than the national average. The state’s proactive stance against crime under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership is attributed to this achievement.

According to NCRB data, out of over 35 lakh cases registered nationwide, Uttar Pradesh recorded only 4.01 lakh cases. The crime rate in UP stands at 171.6%, significantly below the national rate of 258.1%. In terms of the ratio of cases registered, UP ranks 20th among states and union territories, despite being the most populous state in the country.

Prashant Kumar, Special DG of Law and Order, emphasized the state government’s concerted efforts to enhance law and order. He mentioned that emergency services aided 65 lakh distressed individuals, showcasing a reduced response time and acting as a deterrent to crime.

Comparatively, Uttar Pradesh’s murder rate (1.5%) is lower than several states, including Jharkhand (4%). The state also fares better in categories like attempted murder, outraging modesty of women, and rape, with rates below the national averages.

Kumar highlighted technological advancements in crime prevention and expressed confidence that these measures would manifest positively in the days to come.
