In a significant development for Bihar’s industrialization, several domestic and international IT companies are gearing up to invest in the state. HCL Tech, a global IT company, is set to open its first office in Patna in March 2024. The company has been provided space by BIADA .
According to Sandeep Poundrik, the Principal Secretary of the Industry Department, the state is witnessing a surge in interest from IT companies. After the establishment of the US-based Tiger Analytics office in Patna, HCL Tech’s decision to open its office adds to the positive momentum. He also mentioned that a data center project will soon commence in Patna.
Attractive Facilities Offered to IT Companies in Bihar
Poundrik emphasized that more companies are expected to come to Bihar soon. The state has rolled out the Information Technology (IT) Policy 2024 to foster the development of IT, ITES, and ESDM industries, creating a conducive environment for employment generation. Companies are being incentivized to invest in Bihar with subsidies on employment, electricity, and capital, among other attractive provisions.
Construction of IT Tower in Patna
In a move to boost the IT sector, construction is underway for a 12-story private IT tower spanning approximately 8 lakh square feet in the Pataliputra Industrial Area of Patna. Additionally, plug-and-play sheds are being set up across various locations to provide IT companies with readily available workspace.
Potential Investments by Other Companies
Several other companies have also shown interest in investing in Bihar. They are actively seeking locations with an eco-system conducive to IT professionals. Consequently, these companies are considering setting up offices in and around Patna. Locations like the Bela Industrial Area in Muzaffarpur and Bihar in Bihta could also potentially accommodate these companies.
