Candidates appearing for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2024 will face enhanced security measures, including frisking and biometric attendance after toilet breaks, as announced by National Testing Agency (NTA) officials. This rigorous procedure will also apply to officials, observers, staff members, and personnel serving refreshments during the examination.

NTA Director Subodh Kumar Singh highlighted that these measures aim to prevent any instances of unfair means or proxy attendance. While strict mechanisms are already in place, the additional steps are designed to make the examination foolproof, ensuring zero incidents of malpractice.

Currently, aspirants undergo screening and biometric attendance recording at the entry point. Singh stated that a similar process might be extended to other exams in the future.

JEE Main serves as the screening test for admissions to centrally-funded technical institutions such as NITs and IIITs. The top 20% of the merit list qualifies for the JEE (Advanced), the entrance test for Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

The JEE (Main) 2024 is scheduled for a Computer-Based Test (CBT) from January 24 to February 1, with results expected on February 12. The exam will be conducted in 13 languages, and the NTA has received a record 12.3 lakh registrations. The second edition of the bi-annual exam is set for April.
