Purnia: Congress rebel leader Pappu Yadav has filed his nomination as an independent candidate from the Purnia parliamentary constituency on the last day of filing nominations for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections. Displeased with the Congress not being allocated this seat in the grand alliance, Pappu Yadav rebelled and entered the fray as a candidate.
Pappu Yadav arrived to submit his nomination papers at around 11:15 am, seeking blessings from his parents before the nomination. Riding a motorcycle, he told reporters that it is the mandate of the people of Purnia that he contests from there. He mentioned urging the RJD supremo to field Bhima Bharti from Madhepura but he was not ready.
Accompanied by supporters, he left Town Hall for the nomination process from the Collector’s office around 10:45 am. After completing the nomination process, Pappu Yadav is expected to address his supporters and hold a press conference at Town Hall.
Interesting Contest Unfolds in Purnia
Pappu Yadav’s nomination has added intrigue to the electoral contest in Purnia. His nomination has turned the contest into a triangular one. However, the biggest concern about entering the field is for Bhima Bharti, who belongs to his alliance. If there is a split in supporters, both candidates might face some damage. The most worrying factor is the increasing number of Congress supporters unsure of whom to support.
