The voting for the first phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 concluded peacefully on Friday. Voters cast their votes for Bihar’s four Lok Sabha seats: Aurangabad, Gaya (Safe), Nawada, and Jamui (Safe). The fate of 38 candidates contesting on these four seats has been sealed in the EVM.
5% Less Voting Compared to the Previous Elections
The number of voters who stepped out of their homes to vote was highest in West Bengal, while the lowest voting was recorded in Bihar. Amid the scorching heat and dust, approximately 48.23 percent of voters exercised their franchise in Bihar. However, this is nearly 5% less than in 2019. Whereas, in 2019, 53.47 percent of voters cast their votes, this time it was 48.23 percent.
Highest Voting in Gaya
In Bihar, the highest voting was in the safe Lok Sabha constituency of Gaya, with 52% of voters exercising their franchise. Whereas, 50% voting in Aurangabad, the lowest 41.50% in Nawada, and 50% in Jamui was recorded.

People Boycotted Voting
Chief Electoral Officer H.R. Srinivas said in a press conference that voters boycotted the vote at seven polling stations. Local authorities made significant efforts to persuade them to vote, but the voters present there continued to boycott the vote.
Voting Process Smooth
During the press conference, Additional Director General of Police G.S. Gangwar informed that no untoward incidents were reported during the voting. Approximately 55,000 police personnel were deployed on election duty. In addition to paramilitary forces, 15,000 jawans of the Bihar Armed Police and Home Guard were also deployed. The voting process was also monitored through drones and satellites.
