In a significant development, the people of Bihar are set to benefit from a new international airport in the Saran district. The Kalu Ghat airport, located in Sonpur, is poised to enhance connectivity and economic development in the region.
Costing Rs 82.48 crore and spanning 13.17 acres, the newly constructed airport is a welcome addition to Bihar’s aviation infrastructure. Currently, Bihar boasts three operational airports – Jaiprakash Narayan Airport in Patna, Gaya Airport, and Darbhanga Airport. The Kalu Ghat airport is anticipated to further strengthen connectivity, linking Bihar not only with the rest of the country but also internationally.
The strategic location of the airport is expected to have a positive impact on districts in North Bihar, facilitating smoother travel to destinations such as Bangladesh, Bengal, Jharkhand, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Kolkata, Varanasi, and Allahabad. This development is a significant step towards bolstering Bihar’s economic growth and improving accessibility for residents.
The construction of the Kalu Ghat airport marks a crucial milestone, providing a gateway for Bihar to establish air links with global destinations. As airports play a pivotal role in economic progress, this new addition is poised to contribute to the overall development of the state.
