Investors at OpenAI are vehemently urging the board to reverse the controversial dismissal of Sam Altman from his role as Chief Executive Officer and director. Thrive Global, among other investors, is reportedly engaged in private discussions with Microsoft Corp., the predominant shareholder of OpenAI. Sources indicate that Altman is amenable to rejoining the company, and there are contemplations of the existing board members stepping down imminently. While no definitive decisions have been reached, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, taken aback by the abrupt decision, has assured Altman of unwavering support in his future endeavors. The OpenAI board’s decision to oust Altman has triggered widespread criticism, prompting notable departures, including co-founder Greg Brockman. The exodus is anticipated to persist, escalating the crisis. Altman, if reinstated, is poised to advocate for governance reforms within the company. In the event of his non-return, Altman is exploring the prospect of launching a new venture, potentially with former OpenAI colleagues. Both OpenAI and Microsoft declined to comment on the unfolding situation.
