In a momentous event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched DAKSHIN, a center for excellence dedicated to Global South nations. The inauguration took place during the Second Voice of Global South Summit. PM Modi, stressing the historical significance, remarked that the Global South is now gaining a resounding voice through collaborative efforts.
During the summit, PM Modi highlighted the imperative to bridge the technological divide between the Global North and South, asserting that new technology should not exacerbate existing gaps. India’s commitment to responsible technology use was underlined as PM Modi announced the upcoming AI Global Partnership Summit.
Addressing the G20 context, PM Modi emphasized India’s dedication to making the G20 “inclusive and human-centric.” In a testament to these efforts, the Voice of Global South Summit was organized in January, significantly shaping the New Delhi G20 Declaration. PM Modi recalled India’s pivotal role in securing permanent membership for the African Union in the G20.
Additionally, PM Modi condemned the recent terrorist attack in Israel, advocating for “sabka saath and sabka vikas” (inclusive development for all) for global prosperity. India, echoing its commitment, provided humanitarian aid to Palestine in the wake of the conflict with Israel.
The virtual Second Voice of Global South Summit aims to share key outcomes from various G20 meetings during India’s Presidency. It serves as a platform for discussions on global challenges and strategies for a more inclusive and progressive world order.
The leaders’ sessions of the summit are themed “Together, for Everyone’s Growth, with Everyone’s Trust” and “Global South: Together for One Future.”
