Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, on Monday, regarding the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. During his speech, he launched a scathing attack on the Congress party and its leader Rahul Gandhi.
PM Modi remarked that the achievements of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government over the past decade are just a trailer, indicating that much more needs to be done for the progress of both the southern state and the nation as a whole. He also targeted Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of failing to secure his family’s seat in Uttar Pradesh and remaining silent on the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank scandal. Without mentioning Rahul Gandhi by name, PM Modi highlighted the loss of the Congress “prince” in Uttar Pradesh while seeking votes in Kerala.
The seat of Amethi, which had been a stronghold of the Congress for years, slipped from their grasp. PM Modi stated that Congress leaders are seeking votes in Kerala but are not raising their voice for the welfare of the people. He accused them of maintaining silence on the multi-crore scandal involving the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank, controlled by the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala.
PM Modi further alleged collusion between the Congress and the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), calling them a “gang” engaged in anti-national activities, which is a banned organization in India.
Regarding the Karuvannur bank scandal, PM Modi accused Rahul Gandhi of silence, stating that he initiated an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and is now seeking legal advice on how to return the money seized from the accounts to the customers.
In addition to his remarks on political matters, PM Modi also made promises of development initiatives, including the introduction of bullet trains between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, and conducting surveys for bullet train projects in other parts of India upon the NDA government’s return to power for the third time.
This visit marks PM Modi’s sixth tour of Kerala. His last visit was on March 19 when he conducted a massive roadshow in Palakkad district. Kerala is set to vote on all 20 Lok Sabha seats on April 26.
