In a recent political revelation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi disclosed that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) expressed interest in joining the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) following the 2020 Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections. This revelation has ignited a fierce political debate, with KCR’s party, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), vehemently denying the claim.

Addressing a rally in Telangana, PM Modi asserted that KCR had sought to align with the NDA for support after his party faced a shortfall of 21 seats in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls. The BJP had notably secured 48 seats out of 150, significantly surpassing its performance in the 2015 polls.

However, KCR’s party swiftly responded, with BRS spokesperson M Krishank accusing the Prime Minister of resorting to falsehoods for political gain. Krishank remarked, “Next time a Chief Minister visits the Prime Minister, he should take a camera because Narendra Modi can stoop to any low level with lies for political benefits.”

Congress leader Revanth Reddy also weighed in, suggesting a close relationship between the BJP and BRS, labeling it a “fevicol bond.” The BRS retorted, dismissing Reddy’s claims and alleging an unholy alliance between Congress and BJP since the 2019 Parliament Elections.

During the Telangana rally, PM Modi criticized the KCR-led state government, claiming it had failed to fulfill its promises to farmers. He pledged support to turmeric farmers in Nizamabad and the formation of a National Turmeric Board.

“The BRS government has broken all their promises made to the farmers of Telangana,” Prime Minister Modi asserted. “As per our promises to the turmeric farmers, the National Turmeric Board will be formed,” he added.

This disclosure by PM Modi has added a new layer of intrigue to the political landscape in Telangana, setting the stage for heightened tensions between the BJP and BRS.
