In a compelling address during the ongoing Budget Session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated India’s remarkable transition from the 11th to the 5th largest economy globally. The Prime Minister asserted that this economic feat was achieved within a record time frame under the BJP-led government.

Taking a swipe at the Congress, PM Modi pointed out their deliberate silence during this transformative period and quoted former Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who, in the Interim Budget for 2014–15, had referred to India as the 11th largest economy. Modi emphasized, “India is now the 5th largest economy, yet they (Congress) remain silent. It is Modi’s guarantee that in our third term, India will be the third-largest economic power.”

Highlighting the accomplishments of his government over the past decade, PM Modi cited the construction of 4 crore houses for the underprivileged, including 80 lakh pucca houses for the urban poor. He contrasted the pace of progress, stating that if done at the speed of Congress, it would have taken a century to achieve these milestones.

The Prime Minister also underlined the scrapping of British-era penal codes and outlined the vision for a developed India. Additionally, he expressed confidence in the electoral strength of the BJP-led NDA (National Democratic Alliance), predicting a landslide victory with more than 400 seats in the upcoming elections.

PM Modi’s address resonated with a sense of pride in India’s accomplishments and a vision for continued growth, leaving an indelible mark on the ongoing parliamentary proceedings.
