The Nitish Cabinet granted approval to 14 proposals on Tuesday during a meeting held at the Cabinet Hall of the Chief Secretariat. These included initiatives such as a motivational fund for students of the State Engineering College, construction of an incubation center at NIT Patna, and approval for the Prime Minister’s Fisheries Asset Scheme. This marked the first cabinet meeting after the distribution of responsibilities among the ministers’ departments.
Engineering students in Bihar will now receive a stipend of ₹10,000, as per a new policy by the state government. This benefit applies to students at the State Engineering College under the Science and Technology department. Additionally, Bihar government has allocated funds for internships in the seventh semester for B.Tech students. There will be no application fee for Group D applications in the Regional Office of Science and Technology Education. This fee waiver will benefit 3,46,777 applicants.
The decision to establish an incubation center at NIT Patna was also announced by the government. Approval for the construction of the building for the B Plus G Plus 4 incubation center in NIT Patna was granted, totaling ₹47.2 crore. Furthermore, ₹6010.10 crore was approved for the construction of Panchayat Government buildings in 2165 flood-affected Gram Panchayats in the state.
In another initiative, the government has introduced a new scheme to provide veterinary services at the doorstep of livestock keepers. The scheme, costing ₹3,55,17,30,000, has been approved and will operate with the collaboration of the central and state governments. Additionally, the Prime Minister’s Fisheries Asset Scheme, with an approved budget of ₹1,04,90,45,000, will be implemented with joint efforts from the central and state governments.
Following the departmental allocations, the first cabinet meeting took place, making it the second cabinet meeting after the formation of the NDA government. The first cabinet meeting, held on February 5, extended the budget session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and made decisions related to the floor test. Notably, the Bihar Legislative Assembly session is scheduled to commence on February 12, with the government seeking a vote of confidence on the same day.
