India denied David Miller’s wicket; South Africa’s SuperSport under fire as DRS stops working

In a thrilling third T20I, India clinched victory against South Africa by 106 runs, leveling the series. However, controversy loomed large as the Decision Review System (DRS) became unavailable during South Africa’s innings, denying India a crucial wicket.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav’s impressive century, supported by spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav, paved the way for India’s triumph. Kuldeep’s five-wicket haul and Jadeja’s crucial contributions seemed to be defining moments, yet an unresolved DRS issue added a twist to the narrative.

The glitch, attributed to South African broadcaster SuperSport, left both teams without access to DRS after the seventh over. This setback became evident when a strong appeal for a caught behind against David Miller was thwarted by the unavailability of DRS. Replays later revealed a clear deflection off Miller’s bat, raising questions about the match’s turning point.

Fans expressed displeasure, reminiscent of India’s previous tour to South Africa, where DRS-related controversies involving SuperSport drew criticism from Indian players. Despite the setback, India managed to secure Miller’s wicket later in the game, contributing to South Africa’s all-out total of 95 runs.

The incident reignited discussions about the reliability of technology in cricket and its impact on the game’s dynamics.
