Turkish police announced on Sunday the arrest of three Pakistani nationals accused of kidnapping an Indian citizen in Edirne.

Authorities reported that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of two million Indian rupees, approximately $24,000, from the victim’s family.

Turkish media identified the victim as Radhakrishnan, a young Indian who had come to Turkey for work and was employed washing dishes at a restaurant in Istanbul.

About a month ago, three Pakistani asylum seekers allegedly lured Radhakrishnan to Edirne under the guise of offering him a job at a translation company, then abducted him.

A friend of Radhakrishnan alerted the Turkish police, who subsequently rescued him from a house in Edirne. During the operation, police found the victim bound and reported that the kidnappers had sent a video to his family, threatening them.

The police seized an unlicensed firearm, four pistols, and a sum of money from the kidnappers’ residence. Additionally, a Turkish citizen with a criminal record was arrested for providing shelter to the kidnappers.
