Greater Noida, The Uttar Pradesh government has given the nod for a 72km-long Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor linking Ghaziabad’s 17km priority section to the upcoming Jewar Noida international airport. Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary DS Mishra chaired a meeting approving the ₹1,600 crore project, with funding from the state (50%), Centre (20%), and Yeida & Greater Noida (30%). The corridor will extend through Greater Noida West, Surajpur, and Ecotech Pari Chowk, boosting connectivity between Noida airport and Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, and Delhi. The project is set to become operational by 2030.
In a meeting on Tuesday, Mishra dismissed routes via Sarai Kale Khan and Greater Noida, endorsing the Ghaziabad to Jewar route through Greater Noida West. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation has been tasked with preparing a detailed project report (DPR) in the next two months for further progress. Feeder bus services from Jewar airport to Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad are also planned, with 31 electric buses expected to commence operations by the airport’s functional date in 2024.
Trains on the 17km RRTS priority section, inaugurated by the Prime Minister in October, mark the initial phase of the 82km corridor connecting Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut, set to open in 2025.
