New Delhi,In a strategic move to elevate passenger services and reduce costs, Indian Railways is set to implement the Yatri Seva Anubandh initiative on its Vande Bharat Express trains. The initiative, poised to begin as a pilot project for six pairs of Vande Bharat trains, aims to revolutionize the passenger experience and, if successful, will be extended to other premium trains.
The Yatri Seva Anubandh initiative introduces a holistic approach to passenger services, integrating various offerings under one provider per train. This innovative step not only aims to provide passengers with diverse options for food and beverages but also to streamline services, including housekeeping, thereby optimizing costs.
The plan encompasses concierge services, onboard infotainment, and access to travel essentials and accessories, marking a new dimension in passenger service. Service providers participating in this initiative will be required to offer free housekeeping services in all coaches, ensuring a clean and comfortable environment for passengers.
Moreover, the Yatri Seva Anubandh initiative enables the service provider to sell food and beverages to passengers at predetermined rates. The provider will also be responsible for addressing minor issues like jammed doors, loose latches, and leaking taps, enhancing the overall travel experience.
Companies eager to engage in this transformative initiative will compete based on the highest license fee they can offer to the national transporter. To ensure service quality, providers must meet specific criteria, including a minimum annual gross revenue of Rs 120 crore and employment of at least 900 individuals in food and beverage or housekeeping roles during the last financial year.
This pioneering move by Indian Railways aims to improve passenger satisfaction, reduce costs, and create a more efficient and streamlined service model. The initiative aligns with the broader vision of promoting a seamless and enjoyable travel experience for passengers on Vande Bharat Express trains.
