In a heartwarming gesture, Anil Kumar Sahu, a 51-year-old vegetable vendor from Lucknow, has presented a unique world clock to the Ram Temple as a token of reverence ahead of its consecration on January 22, 2024.

Sahu, who operates a vegetable cart near Hanneman crossing, developed the world clock in 2018 and secured a patent for its design from the Government of India. The 75 cm clock, capable of displaying the time in nine countries simultaneously with a single hand, was handed over to Champat Rai, the general secretary of the Ram Temple Trust, on Monday.

Notably, Sahu’s clock showcases the time of India, China, Tokyo (Japan), Moscow (Russia), Dubai (UAE), Mexico, New York, and Washington DC. The thoughtful design aligns countries in the same time zone using seven circles, such as pairing Beijing with Singapore.

Expressing his motivation behind the invention, Sahu, originally from Fatehpur, mentioned facing financial challenges in his childhood after losing his father. Despite being a high school dropout, he pursued his passion for technical innovations. Sahu revealed that reading newspapers since the age of 15 inspired the idea for the world clock. He aspires to further contribute to India’s recognition on the global stage and hopes to gift a clock to Prime Minister Modi, seeking international patent recognition.

Besides the Ram Temple, Sahu has also dedicated similar clocks to locations like Hanuman Garhi, Ayodhya Junction railway station, Khatu Shyam Mandir in Lucknow, Kotwa Dham, and Kunteshwar Mahadev Mandir in Barabanki.
