PATNA ,In a weather update for the region, Patna witnessed light rainfall for the second consecutive day, extending across various districts in the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted additional rains in the southern and north-eastern parts of the state on Thursday. Simultaneously, the minimum temperatures are anticipated to experience a significant decline, starting from December 8.
Cities that reported rainfall include Nawada (1.5mm), Bhagalpur (1.2mm), Jamui (1.0mm), Banka (0.5mm), Katihar (0.5mm), Sabour (0.4mm), and Dehri (0.4mm). Trace amounts of rainfall were recorded in Gaya, Patna, and Purnia.
Kumar Gaurav, the official from the Patna Meteorological Centre, highlighted that the state observed a maximum temperature of 31.2°C in Motihari and a minimum temperature of 14.5°C in Kishanganj.
“The average maximum temperature was recorded at 26.8°C, and the average minimum temperature was recorded at 18.0°C,” mentioned Gaurav. The forthcoming 24 hours are expected to bring rainfall to one or two places in the southern, north-central, and north-eastern parts of the state.
Alongside the weather update, the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) displayed a significant improvement over the past few days. The 24-hour average AQI is noted at 220, a decrease from the 356 recorded five days earlier.
While this update presents a favorable shift in weather conditions, certain cities in Bihar continue to grapple with heightened pollution levels. Begusarai (448), Saharsa (363), Purnia (359), and Katihar (354) were identified as the most polluted cities in the country on Wednesday, recording AQI levels above 300.
