In an architectural marvel spanning almost 2.7 acres, the Ram Mandir is on the verge of becoming a symbol of divine grandeur and contemporary prowess. As preparations intensify for the “pran pratishtha” (consecration ceremony) of Ram Lalla on January 22, the temple complex is poised to radiate with an impressive 4,000-kilowatt (kw) electricity load.

Scheduled for completion by December 2025, the Ram Mandir stands as one of the most significant shrines constructed in India post-Independence. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, overseeing this monumental project, has proposed an electricity connection of 4,000 kw to meet the evolving power demands of the temple complex.

Pradeep Verma, the executive engineer of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) in Ayodhya, revealed that the temple’s current power connection stands at 1,200 kw, registered under Trust General Secretary Champat Rai. The proposed 4,000-kw connection would surpass the energy requirements of the Lok Bhavan and even the renowned Taj hotel in Lucknow.

This ambitious project not only signifies a convergence of tradition and modernity but also reflects the magnitude of the temple’s stature. The proposed electricity connection, unparalleled in Ayodhya, showcases the monumental scale and importance of the upcoming Ram Mandir.

As Ayodhya strives to become a modern and spiritual city, additional projects in the region are expected to elevate the overall electricity demand. Plans are already in motion to enhance the town’s infrastructure to accommodate the surge in power requirements. The future development projects, including tent cities, are anticipated to drive Ayodhya’s maximum power demand to over 100 megawatts, a substantial increase from the current 40 megawatts.

To meet this burgeoning demand, UPPCL is proactively augmenting the distribution capacities, adding a new distribution sub-station, and upgrading transformer capacities. Simultaneously, the UP Power Transmission Corporation (UPPTCL) is establishing a 220 kva transmission sub-station dedicated to serving the power transmission needs of the temple city.

The completion of these projects is expected to enhance Ayodhya’s status as both a modern city and a spiritual hub, seamlessly blending tradition and progress.
