Telugu actor Rekha Boj has ignited a social media storm with her unconventional pledge to streak on Visakhapatnam beach if India secures victory in the ongoing 2023 Cricket World Cup. The statement, made on X (formerly Twitter), has been met with criticism and accusations of leveraging a national event for self-promotion.

While expressing her celebratory intentions, Boj’s announcement drew parallels to a similar controversy in 2011 involving model and actress Poonam Pandey, who pledged to strip naked if the Indian cricket team clinched the World Cup. The user backlash suggests a sentiment of disapproval, branding Boj’s statement as a mere publicity stunt.

This incident reignites discussions about the appropriateness of such promises, especially considering cultural and social norms in India. Boj’s bold declaration has added a layer of controversy to the already highly anticipated World Cup final between India and Australia on November 19.
