New Delhi, In a pivotal move gearing up for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Rahul Gandhi engaged in a strategic meeting with Bihar Congress leaders. The discussion, attended by approximately 40 leaders from the state, delved into alliance strategy and the crucial aspect of seat sharing.

After the meeting, Bihar Congress Chief Akhilesh Prasad Singh addressed the media, highlighting the unity within the RJD-JDU-Congress-Left alliance. He emphasized that while the alliance respects religious beliefs, connecting a religious program with politics is deemed inappropriate.

“We held detailed discussions on the preparations for the Lok Sabha elections. We have made an action plan which will be taken forward. The discussion on seats will be held in the alliance committee meeting on December 29,” Singh stated.

Flexibility in seat sharing was asserted by Singh, acknowledging the dynamic nature of the alliance with the inclusion of JD(U) this time.

Congress had contested on nine seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, forming a significant part of the alliance. The intricate process of finalizing seat sharing was central to the recent INDIA bloc meet, leading to the formation of a National Alliance Committee by the Congress.

In 2019, out of Bihar’s 40 Lok Sabha seats, RJD was allocated 20, Congress secured nine, and other allied parties received the remaining seats. The upcoming alliance committee meeting on December 29 is anticipated to provide further clarity on the distribution of seats among the alliance partners.

Congress President Kharge is scheduled to continue similar meetings with party leaders from Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab in the following days.
